Duchenne Dash At Home - the FUEL10K Ironman

Here at FUEL10K, we’re always in for a challenge. So when we began running out of good questions for our weekly online quiz, we decided to run for good instead. We have completed our first ever Ironman on Friday 22nd of May 2020, raising funds for Duchenne UK. We need to work together, while staying apart.

For the past 7 years, we’ve supported Duchenne UK at their annual fundraising event ‘Duchenne Dash’, fuelling riders on a 24 hour journey from London to the Eiffel Tower. The Dash raises over £1 million for the charity each year and like all charities the ongoing situation is devastating to efforts in raising valuable funds.

This year, we are joined the Duchenne Dash AT HOME!

It is important to remember that while events all around the world are cancelled, funds still need to be raised. Please support us by donating any amount that you can for Duchenne UK.

Join us, support us, let’s help end Duchenne.

The FUEL10K Ironman

An Ironman Triathlon consists of a 3.8km swim, followed by a 180km bike ride and finally a 42km run. That’s 225 kilometres or land and sea. Yikes! Who’s in?

We attacked it as a relay team. We’re an active bunch scattered across the UK – London, Herefordshire, Edinburgh, The Wirral, Inverness – you name it! We even have Skippy down under in Sydney, Australia. We passed our ‘baton’ from place-to-place, so take a look at our ‘Duchenne Dash At Home’ on our Instagram Stories @fuel10k #fuelyourjourney.

Our Dash Plan:

Duchenne UK Charity

Two families a week in the UK are told that their child has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a devastating muscle wasting disease that mainly affects boys.

DMD is a desperately cruel disease. It's the most common genetic killer of children worldwide. Children will be totally paralysed by their teens and many won't live beyond their 20s.

There is no treatment or cure. But thanks to recent breakthroughs, and with your help, we believe we can save them.

Duchenne UK is a lean, ambitious and highly focused charity with a clear vision: to fund and accelerate treatments and a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), and to do so in a decade.
