  1. The recipe change has made these drinks taste awful. The strawberry one especially. I used to love these but im finding it hard to drink them now. The flavour is almost non existent. Its like a watered-down milk taste with a chemical hint. They used to have a nice sweet taste.

We love to get feedback – both positive and negative as it helps shape what we do in the future. The fact that you are a FUEL10K fan means we have to take your points on board as well.

To try to keep you as a fan, here’s an explanation of what we’ve done to the recipe and why.

So, FUEL10K was the first brand to launch breakfast drinks in the UK. We were followed a year or so later by a couple of other brands. So we’re pretty proud of the fact that we got in first. Earlier this year we took the decision to try to make our drinks the best on the market from a nutrition point of view – offer lower calories per 100g, higher protein, lower fat and more importantly lower sugar. To do this, we had to lower the sugar that we added, and at the same time switch out the soya protein for a better tasting milk protein.

We went ahead and made the recipe tweak at the start of the summer, but what ended up happening was that the ingredients didn’t thicken as much as the previous recipe did during the manufacturing process – we still got all the nutrition that we used to get, but the product was a little less creamy than the original recipe.

We’ve worked on a couple of tweaks – what we have now is a drink that has a much cleaner milk strawberry taste, but is not quite as thick as the previous recipe. We still think it’s a winner though!

If you try a drink that was made after the beginning of August you will find that it’s a little creamier than the one that you have had previously – it should be fine now. If not, let us know.

Before I ask anyone to issue me with my P45, please take the time out to try the new recipe and let us know what you think. Hopefully I’m not quite on the scrapheap.

  2. Ok a bit tastless but still easily drinkable. A nice light protien shake.

  3. I stumbled across the product in my local grocery store and gave it a go as I’m looking for an all-purpose protein drink for breakfasts and after long/hard training sessions. I know there’s lots of very specific formulae powders for making up your own, but life’s too short for all that faffing.
Nutritional content looks spot-on in terms of what I’d want (and expect) from this sort of shake. What I don’t understand are comments about the flavour. I’ve tried vanilla and chocolate so far and they both taste really nice. A natural flavour, not too sweet and a very smooth texture. I’d rate flavour and texture way above any of the powdered efforts and at least on a par with other pre-mixed ones I’ve tried.

    • Thanks Mike, Glad to hear we’re ticking the boxes!
