FUEL10K: Give us your 60 second bio, Go:
My name is Josh Spinks, I am 23 years old and have been riding Motocross bikes since the age of 3! Living in Leicester I have recently signed for the Heads and All Threads Suzuki UK team for the 2016 Season, making this my first professional year of racing.
My first race was in 1999 with the CJMX School boy club. I raced at club level for a number of years winning many championships a long the way. I then advanced to racing National level in 2003. By 2005 I clinched my first national championship at 12 years old.
In 2009 when making the transition to adult professional racing, I had a heavy crash which resulted in a broken neck. This took me a long time to recover, 16 years old at the time.
Since the incident I have been focused on one thing. Becoming British Champion! I have Steadily Improved with each year that has passed, during 2015 I had a taste of victory when leading some laps at the highest level in the Country. With the opportunity of riding and training full time, I hope to make my dream a reality in the near future.
FUEL10K: What do you love about what you do?
I love the element of freedom the sport brings, when you race it just you and the machine.
FUEL10K: How many hours a week do you put into training?
I train every day to enable me to reach my goals, including riding and gym training it works out close to 20 hours per week.
FUEL10K: What inspires you the most in Motocross?
The progression element drives me in motocross, being able to improve and find your own limits each time you race!
FUEL10K: What/who are you influenced by and how do you find inspiration?
Stefan everts Influenced many things in my riding, he was 10 times world champion. I try to ride the bike in a similar way, standing up and being as smooth as possible.
I find inspiration by setting regular goals, and doing everything I can to make them happen.
FUEL10K: What is the most extreme experience you’ve had (privately or professionally)?
One experience that comes to mind was Backflipping my BMX when I was 18, I don’t ride very much but my friend thought it would be a good idea, So I did.
FUEL10K: What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
When I get up I go straight to the cupboard and get Fuel’d up before getting my gym or Motocross gear together to start the days training.
